2023 Halloween Yard Decor Contest Winner

The Yard of the Month committee chose Jane Marshall's at 6325 Darwood as the Halloween Yard Decor Contest Winner! She said it was the first time in four years that she put out decorations. With fourteen spiders of various sizes, Jane decorated the house with a huge specimen on the roof and a large web and spider covering one window. Lights include small twinkles and  jack-o-lantern faces lining the flower beds and an animated, lighted dragon in the lawn completes the tableau. Congratulations Jane!

Laurie Birko, owner of ACE Hardware, generously provided an augmented prize for the 2023 Halloween Yard Decor Winner. She is pictured below with her beautiful handiwork. Thank you, Laurie!

November Yard of the Month

November's Yard of the Month belong to Richard and Jan Cotten at 6433 Curzon! A variety of well manicured shrubs, including blooming abelia, fill the garden across the front of the house with accents of sweet potato vine in large pots at each end. Crepe myrtle, Japanese yew, dwarf maple and Little Gem magnolia add larger structure to the garden. Yellow mums give a seasonal touch, with sweet alyssum and blue salvia for contrast. Congratulations Richard and Jan!

Bittersweet News from Bel Haddad

Effective this week I am taking over the role of NPO for the Walsh Ranch Community.  I wanted to thank everyone in RNN that I have gotten to know over the past 8 plus years.  It has truly been an honor working with the RN community.  We have had the opportunity to create and celebrate events & holidays.  We have also been able to identify, investigate and arrest subjects targeting RN.  Being your NPO has been a great experience and you all made it easy for me.

Your new NPO is officer Mike Kuzenka, a veteran of the department with former NPO experience.  Mike is coming from the HOPE team which he helped stand-up several years ago.  His expertise in Homelessness as well as NPO skills make him an excellent fit for RNN.  As many of you know the area of responsibility for your NPO spans well beyond RN and has several areas heavily populated with panhandling and homelessness. Mike can be reached by   email: michael.kuzenka@fortworthtexas.gov

I can’t express how much I have enjoyed being part of your community.  Getting to know you all individually, your families and seeing the kids go from playing in Berney Park to college bound is mind blowing.  Andrea, Tyler and Chris thanks for the “NPO of the Year” votes and your stubbornness. It finally paid off after runner up so many times.  It was great to celebrate our own “Susan Lucci” moment together.

I am a phone call or email away.  Please stay in touch and see you all at The Meat Board.

Sincerely,

Bel
